Who We Are
Carmen Watson
she, her, elle
Hi - I'm Carmen!
After working in treaty negotiations, anti-racism consulting, and corporate EDI settings, I decided it was time to put my skills to use through my own business.
My identity, my family, and the idea of our future generations are all central to what I do. I am proud of the legacy of my ancestors, which include Chinese immigrants who paid the Head Tax in the 1920s, and Red River Métis who took scrip in the late 1800's.
I'm a historian by training, and have spent most of my academic career researching the relationship between Indigenous feminism and sovereignty.
I care deeply about our shared understanding of the past, and believe that the way we understand its relationship to the present is crucial if we are hoping to create change: if we don't understand how we've gotten to where we are (or even where we are), it's incredibly difficult to figure out where we want to go.
